In 1991, they integrated Sezen Aksu's song Kolay Gelsin into Turkish rap and produced a different style that had never existed in those years. These artists, who made the first Turkish rap music in Germany, were now including pop music and folk songs in almost every track. In particular, they were producing Turkish Rap music by including instrument genres such as saz that stimulated our national feelings. Turkish Rap, which was made by many different people during this time, was now taking its place on the shelves as an album.

The Birth of the Karakan Group

Turkish Rap, which emerged in Berlin towards the end of the 1980s, had already settled in the language of Turkish youth in Germany. Many rap music lovers, who were involved in all these developments in the background, were looking to formalize their art. One of the names that contributed greatly to the birth of Turkish Rap music was the Karakan group.

The Karakan group was founded in 1993 by Alpertunga Köksal, known by the nickname Alper Ağa. Karakan group members include Qaboos Kerim, and Ahmet. Kabus Kerim and Alper ağa would form the best-selling Cartel group of Turkish Rap, whose record could not be broken for 20 years. The Karakan group was with the Cartel Group from the day it was founded until its dissolution. There were albums he made after the Cartel group disbanded.

Karakan Group, one of the basic building blocks that contributed to the birth of Turkish Rap music, was known for the album Defol Dazlak released in 1993. In the 70s, when Germany demanded workers from Turkey, the song "Defol Skinhead" became a cult music that told about the difficulties, racism and social problems experienced by the Turks living in Germany. Concert offers were coming from all over Germany. The Karakan Group had become an underground phenomenon. King Size Terror and the Karakan Group were going on at the same time. However, the popularity of the Karakan group surpassed King Size Terror. Alper Ağa started the Karakan project himself, but in the following years, one of the legendary names such as Kabus Kerim was also included.

There were 3 people in Karakan Group: Big Porno Ahmet, Kabus Kerim and Alper Ağa. Big Porno Ahmet is the person who made the beats of the Karakan group. He has made a great contribution to the infrastructure of the Karakan group. The members of the Karakan group started to sing rap in Turkish with their education level at that time. After the Karakan Group became a phenomenon, Alper Ağa's friends in Berlin offered to make a Karakan Album. The members and non-members of the group, who continued their meetings for a while, were planning to bring together the rapping Turks in Germany. They thought that they would make more noise in their work with Turkish MCs covering all of Germany.

How Was the Cartel Group Founded?

Turkish Rap Bone mass artists, who were trying to find a name for the group they were going to establish, received an offer from their manager to name it White Niggle Pussy. Alper Ağa, one of the founders of the Karakan group, stated that when he heard this offer, his blood pressure dropped and he would faint. Under the leadership of Alpet Ağa, Karakan, Erci-E and Cinai Network groups came together and established a Turkish Rap group called Cartel. Alper Ağa's recommendation for the use of the name Cartel is more predominant. The reason why they chose the name Cartel, which comes from Carteization, was to dominate the market.
