Sagopa Kajmer (Yunus Özyavuz) was born on August 17, 1978 in Samsun. Sagopa Kajmer started his music career as a DJ on a local radio station in Samsun. At that time, rapper M.C. (under the names Rapper Mic Check and DJ Mic Check) used the name “Pseudonym”.
Sagopa Kajmer married Kolera, who is also a rapper on August 1, 2006.
In 1998, Sagopa Kajmer founded Güçmira, a formation that still exists in the underground rap world. He and Cholera are still in the Forcemira group. In 1999, he took part in the compilation album Underground Operation under the pseudonym “Silahsiz Güç”. In 2001 and 2002, he released two albums one after the other under the pseudonym Silahsiz Güç, Sözm Silahım and İhtiyar Heyeti. Later, he left the Armed Force mâhla and continued his music life with the Sagopa Kajmer mâhla. In 2002, he released Ceza's album Med Cezir; In 2004, he produced the album Rapstar, and later these two artists had a falling out. He then released the albums Bir Pesimistin Tears (2004) and Romantik (2005). In 2004, he also composed music for Cem Yılmaz's film G.O.R.A. A music video was made for the song Burdan Yak in Al 1.
In 2007, Sagopa Kajmer released their duet album with Kolera, İkimiz Anlatbir Şey. In 2008, he released the album Bad People Recognition Year, which he called 'my best album'. In addition, in 2008, he was nominated by MTV Turkey to be the best of the year in Turkey in the Hip-Hop category at the European Music Awards and attracted attention with his performance at the EMA Party and his audience. In 2008, Melankolia Wears was also released under the Melankolia label. He showed that he attaches importance to young talents in rap music with the DJ Bana contest he started at the end of 2008 and the album Underground Kafilei released in 2009.
In 2010, Sagopa Kajmer released the album “Bendeki Sen” with his wife Kolera and this album attracted a lot of attention. In the TRT music awards held for the first time in 2010; With this album, he entered the top five in the Album of the Year category, which was determined by the votes of the public. As his last album, the album “Saydam Oda” was released in 2011.In 2012, he released his songs Istofoz and 40 on the internet. He announced on his official Twitter account that he will release a new album in 2013.
Sagopa Kajmer organized a tour with his own orchestra, Pesimist Orchestra, in March, April and May 2013 and gave concerts in 15 cities as part of the tour.
In July 2013, he released his album Kalp Hastası. The album contains 19 songs, 3 of which have already been released. He was accompanied by his wife Cholera in the song “Isteristemez”. 2 days before the release of this album, Sagopa Kajmer released his song Düşün Kadar Zamann Var on the internet and a music video was shot for the song. This song was also included in Sagopa Kajmer's album Kalp Hastası.
Yunus Özyavuz, who has been working as a radio DJ since February 1992, uses the name “Dj Mic Check” as his DJ name. He worked for 11 years on the radio called Power FM using the name “Dj Mic Check” and parted ways with this radio in 2013. He has produced Ceza's album Med Cezir and Rapstar, as well as Ceza's bandmate Fuchs' album Huzur N Darem in 2004, as well as many other rap musicians and bands. Yunus Özyavuz is considered to be the pioneer of Turntablism in Turkey. In addition, Özyavuz has worked as a DJ and music director in Turkey's well-established radios. He has DJed at H2000 and J&B festivals and at various venues abroad.
Yunus Özyavuz, who has significant music accumulation and a wide music archive, has created the Pessimistic underground rap style with his identity as Sagopa Kajmer, and has proven himself to many different audiences with his music quality, richness of lyrics and impressive voice. He has also prepared infrastructure music for artists from abroad.
Sagopa Kajmer, who continues to work as a DJ on the one hand and as an artist on the other, prepared music for G.O.R.A, one of the most watched films in Turkey, in 2004. A music video was made for the song Al Bir de Burdan Yak. This development has succeeded in bringing Sagopa Kajmer to an audience outside of its style. In 2005, Sagopa Kajmer produced Kolera's album Karantina Embryo and reached the peak of her career with her album Romantik released by İrem Records in the same year. The first music video of this album, Vasiyet, was awarded the Best Music Video of 2005 at the Kral Tv Video Music Awards.
On the evening of July 17, 2013, it was alleged that Sagopa Kajmer had ordered drugs from the UK and was reported to the police by the officers who suspected the cargo. On his Twitter account, he said, “Customs is hosting me right now because I brought prohibited goods. We have iftar together. I ordered many flesh-eating flowers, many types of peppers and tropical plant seeds on the net, it got me into trouble. Do not order without reading the customs law.” The artist, who was detained from his home, spent the night at the Customs Directorate in Sirkeci after a health check. The next day, he was released by the court to which he was transferred. He was banned from going abroad by the court on duty.
